We are a team of journalists, researchers, lawyers, and advocates working together to expose and reverse the stranglehold that corporate monopolies have on our country.
Who We Are
For years, many of us worked under the name "Open Markets Program" at New America, examining extreme concentrations of economic and political power.
Our ultimate goal was, and still is, to protect this country's economy and democracy from corporate monopolies that undermine opportunity, competition, choice, and – as we have now personally experienced – freedom of expression. We believe our democracy hangs in the balance and it will take citizens, working together, to save it.

In America today, wealth and political power are more concentrated than at any point in our country’s history.
The Open Markets Institute, formerly the Open Markets program at New America, was founded to protect liberty and democracy from these extreme -- and growing -- concentrations of private power.
