Research Fellow

Austin is a Fellow at the Open Markets Institute. He’s been quoted in The New York Times, The Intercept, & Mother Jones, written for Fast Company, Buzzfeed News, Forbes, SlowFoodsUSA, Civil Eats, & The Des Moines Register, and profiled in The Intercept, Dissent, Civil Eats, In These Times, & Bloomberg BNA. He’s also published researched in the National Tax Journal, Tax Notes, & U.S. Department of Treasury and his research has been cited in The Washington Post & The New York Times.

Before coming to Open Markets, Austin worked at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in the Tax Analysis Department, Congressional Research Service, and the Institute for Research on Poverty.
