Laura Hatalsky

Chief of Staff

Laura has spent more than a decade in Washington, DC, working in progressive politics inside the United States Congress and on campaigns. Before joining Open Markets, Laura was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV). Laura was the Policy Director at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) for the 2016 cycle under Chairman Jon Tester (D-MT). In the United States Senate, Laura served as an economic policy advisor for the Democratic Policy and Communications Center under the Leadership of Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Harry Reid (D-NV). Early in her career, she served as a policy advisor to former Representatives Anthony Weiner (D-NY) and Mike Honda (D-CA), focusing on a range of economic issues important to New York City and Silicon Valley.  Laura received a Master’s degree from the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University.
