Stella Roque

Communications Director

Prior to joining the Open Markets Institute, Roque was Chief Communications Officer for the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) based in the Balkans where she served a network of award-winning investigative reporters exposing high-level corruption and links between governments and organized crime across Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. She worked to raise OCCRP’s media profile, planned media outreach for stories, and kept European policymakers and civil society actors informed on challenges and threats faced by reporters in these regions. She was also a liaison between OCCRP journalists and Transparency International activists where she facilitated and advanced the work of the Global Anti-Corruption Consortium. She holds a B.A. from The American University and an MSc. from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
