Open Markets’ Executive Director Barry Lynn: “We Applaud the Entrepreneurs Challenging Big Tech Monopolists.”

WASHINGTON — Ahead of a House Judiciary Committee field hearing today on Competitors in the Digital Economy in Boulder, Colorado at 10 a.m. MST, and in response to news by Bloomberg that four potential competitors to Facebook have sued that corporation for anticompetitive behavior, Open Markets Executive Director Barry Lynn made the following statement:

We strongly support the entrepreneurs and independent businesses who are standing up to challenge the dominance of Facebook, Amazon, and Google over America’s markets. The bigger these corporations get and the more they consolidate their monopolies, the less accountable they are to America’s citizens or the Congress of the United States. Today’s hearing led by House Antitrust Subcommittee Chairman David Cicilline is a sign that the American people are ready to fight. America’s entrepreneurs want nothing more than an equal opportunity to innovate, compete, and thrive. Their voices will be heard.
