CJL Director Courtney Radsch Testifies before the Canadian Parliament Standing Committee

“[Big Tech’s] playbook follows the likes of Big Tobacco, Big Oil, and Big Pharma, but also includes the use of their own platforms to manipulate public opinion and censor their critics,” testifies Radsch.

Dr. Courtney Radsch, Director of the Center for Journalism and Liberty at the Open Markets Institute testified on December 5, 2023, before the Canadian Parliament’s Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage (CHPC) regarding the ways in which Big Tech companies have used their outsized power in order to censor news, distort public information, and subvert government oversight. 

Dr. Radsch explained how “Big Tech and their leaders have deployed their vast resources and charitable foundations to evade regulation around the world, influence research and journalistic coverage, intimidate critics and undermine legal regulatory oversight.”
