Farm, Consumer, & Antimonopoly Groups All Urge the FTC to Oppose Kroger-Albertsons Merger

WASHINGTON- The Open Markets Institute has partnered with major farm and fair food groups including HEAL Food Alliance, National Farmers Union, Rural Advancement Foundation International-USA, National Family Farm Coalition, Farm Action, and more, in a letter urging the FTC to block the Kroger-Albertsons grocery chain merger. 

The letter lays out how the deal between the two dominant grocers would significantly worsen an already overly-consolidated food system where corporate profits and investors’ returns grow while small- and medium-sized farmers, suppliers, and grocers struggle to get by and consumers face record high prices.
